Our advice

  • Don’t put your life in danger by walking under or too close to cliffs, as rockfalls are frequent, and never leave the marked path,
  • In the event of an impassable path (landslide, mudslide…) follow the detour proposed by the GR®21,
  • Avoid using the coastal path after heavy rain or periods of frost,
  • Don’t pick up pebbles – they’re essential for protecting our coastline,
  • Wear appropriate equipment (see our FAQ).

If you notice any signage defects, don’t hesitate to report them using the SURICATE system.

  • How do I equip for a hike?

    – Bring hiking boots or, failing that, good sneakers (watch your ankles on stony paths!) with appropriate socks (or else beware of blisters!);

    – Dress appropriately for the weather and the season:
    Hat or cap, sunglasses and sunscreen when the sun is out; Jacket, hat, gloves in autumn/winter: the wind blows on the cliffs!
    Whatever the season, bring a cape or other rain gear.

    – Take water, and always pack a snack (fresh fruit, dried fruit, bread…).

    – Equip yourself according to the hike you’re planning: flashlight, camera, binoculars, walking sticks and of course… the indispensable backpack!

  • Who should I contact to report trail damage?

    The Suricate website or application lets you report any problems you encounter while hiking.

    A signpost error, a defective sign, a pollution problem, a need for safety measures, a conflict with a landowner or other hikers… Fill in the form, locate the problem, take a photo and send.

    Your report will be transmitted via the Suricate network and processed by the local correspondent.

  • Where to picnic?

    On the beaches ofPetites and Grandes Dalles, Saint-Pierre-en-Port, Fécamp and Yport: find yourself a flat pebble and enjoy the view!
    But watch out for gulls!
    (We remind you that our food is indigestible for these birds).

    – On the picnic tables provided:

    – In the valleys of Senneville-sur-Fécamp and Vaucottes ;
    – At Cap Fagnet, Fécamp ;
    – In Yport, above the Casino,
    – Along the Véloroute du Lin to Valmont and beyond;
    – In Valmont, near the fishpond.

    We thank you for keeping our beaches and picnic areas clean by taking away your garbage, and are grateful to you for trying to reduce it.

  • What to do with your waste?

    The best waste is the waste we don’t produce.
    We invite you to choose the products you use with care.

    Pick up your garbage and take it home with you. You’ll find public garbage cans as you pass through our villages. If these are already full, we invite you to save your garbage until the next one!
